HOLMDEL, NJ - Want to skip the wait for those doorbusters next week? No worries! From the comfort of your own home, you can purchase a great holiday gift starting on December 1st: tickets to the premiere of Nicholas Marchese’s first feature film, My Brother’s Girlfriend. No lines. No hassle. No skipping Thanksgiving dinner.
My Brother’s Girlfriend features amauture and semi-professional talent from across the great Garden State. Premiering on January 9, 2015 in Holmdel, New Jersey, the film is a dramatic comedy that interjects a realistic perspective on what is seen as society’s new social norms. Chadwick Hensen, the lead in the film, is portrayed by Interlaken, New Jersey’s Joseph Scarpino - an aspiring actor and musician.
Joseph Scarpino, who “actually started acting only a few short years ago,” just turned twenty five as principal photography came to a wrap on My Brother’s Girlfriend. With a passion for drums and music, he and his band, Roulette, have been hard at work recording their EP at Lakehouse Studios in Asbury Park. The album, titled BrainDead, was released on iTunes and Amazon on November 15.
Scarpino has been exposed to the experience of veteran actors and directors: he has worked alongside Simon Helberg (The Big Bang Theory) and Zachary Quinto (Heroes, Star Trek, American Horror Story). Most recently, he completed work on a new HBO pilot directed by Martin Scorsese. “I actually got to meet him and make him laugh, that was one of the highlights of my life!”
His acting inspiration comes from the Nickelodeon show All That, a show that he always wanted to appear on. After his mother passed away, he was reinvigorated to pursue his acting career-- a promise he made to her the last time they spoke.
“I found the casting notice [for My Brother’s Girlfriend] on Mandy.com. After reading the character breakdown for Chad I thought he was eerily similar to my actual personality,” Joseph explained when asked how he heard about My Brother’s Girlfriend. “The fact that the film was shooting so close to where I live was a great coincidence as well. You almost never get to shoot so close to home.”
Scarpino hopes the audience will really feel the heated exchange between Chad and Eric Hensen when the film premieres on January 9, 2015 at the Duncan Smith Theater in Holmdel, New Jersey. He also dreams of being involved in a Marvel Studios production; a dream, like his promise to his mother, he won’t give up on any time soon.
